This pub is in
Datchet Road, opposite the junction with Thameside, also opposite is the
Southern Region Railway station (which is probably why the pub used to be
called The Railway Hotel) A great looking pub with Windsor Castle as
it's backdrop.

Used to be a Courage House.
The pub was run for many years from around 1974 by one of the Wing family,
as was the Bells of Ouzeley another
Courage house in Old Windsor.

Royal Oak
8th March 1834
At a meeting of the Commissioners
of Pavement, held at the Town hall on Monday, Mrs.Bitmead, of the
Royal Oak, Datchet-lane, was fined 10s and costs, for allowing her pig
to run at large in the streets; and Mr.Jacobs was fined 5s and
costs, for emptying filthy water on the pavement opposite his door in
Thames-street.
